Principal Apgar of MSAD 14 in Danforth, is pleased to announce that Dane Burrill, a senior at East Grand School, has been selected to receive the 2026 Maine Principal’s Association Award. The award sponsored by the Maine Principal Association is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship. It is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by members of the MPA.
Over the last four years Dane has demonstrated an amazing work ethic in the classroom and in the community. He has held several class officer positions and is a member of the NSH and NTHS. Dane has given many volunteer hours at the local food pantry as well as other community organizations. Last year Dane participated in the Houlton Rotary Youth Exchange Program. He spent 30 days in Taiwan and his counterpart from Taiwan came and spent 30 days with him in Danforth. “People there are not really any different from us, except they are not so “outdoorsy” as we are.” He also said that through this program he learned to be more confident and decisive. Dane also learned not to trust everything he was told when you don’t understand the language.
Dane is being presented with an MPA plaque and pin to recognize outstanding students such as him.
Dane will be attending the University of Maine in Orono and is enrolled in their Engineering Program. Congratulations to Dane and his family.
